1. what more difficulties we can face while installing scom 2016
2. If I want to clarify anything with the customer, before installing then it should be.

Does anyone have any experience using both SCOM and Azure Application Insights for Application Performance Monitoring ?
If yes, kindly let me know whether SCOM offers all the features supported by Application Insights.
Or going for Azure Application Insights integrated with SCOM would be a better solution for Application Performance Monitoring.

Hi All,
I am trying to integrate Azure Application Insights with SCOM for APM monitoring but while doing so I am encountered with the following error.
Right after logging in using my azure account, the below appears and I am unable to proceed further.
The account that I have signed in as has the Owner permissions. Also, I am able to login successfully to Azure portal with the same account.
Please help me in finding out what is it that might have gone wrong.

I have some basic questions about SCOM "Network Discovery"
I have other domain (AD, TS, EXCHANGE) that i want to monitor using SNMP without agent.
So I have created a new Domain Admin user in that domain and called it "SCOM".
Then i back to SCOM and initiate the network discovery, Selected the "Explicit discovery" and then proceed with Create Account
and in this stage i have some questions:
Run as account type is grayed out which is "CommunityString"
Display name (what the hell should i insert?) I typed SCOM Which is the user i created in the destination domain, then next
Community string? is it like public? so in my case i entered "SCOM" as well
Next page is the devices, there i presses "Add" and specified the IP address of destination DC, in the "User selected default accounts" I've chose SCOM. and continued with next, next finish.
Then right click and "Run" which run successfully.
Then what? if it's pending? should I do something in "Network Device Pending Management"?
the firewall is turned off in source and destination, no AV, and still don't get network device, i feel that i fail in some basic settings?
can you assist me please?

I am facing issue while generating Availability report for SQL Engine/Database only for specific DB which is hosted on two node cluster.
Availability Reports for SQL Engine/Database showing " Monitoring Unavailable " Gray even through the objects ware healthy for that time period
I tried below troubleshooting steps but still report is gray .
>Restarted SCOM health service and cleared health service catch on Node
>checked outage time by ruining below query but these server is not in the list
>Reinstalled SCOM agent on the Node
Still getting gray report , can some one suggest on this .....

At certain times a series of very many malformed requests appears in the log file in timespan of 1-2 minutes and after that the WCF service becomes non responsive and the Windows service when stopped hangs in Stopping state unable to finish executing the WCF's
service Close method. The server has to be restarted to make it work again.
The exceptions logged are as follows:
- Error while reading message framing format at position 0 of stream (state: ReadingVersionRecord)
- Socked connection aborted
- Expected record type 'Version', found '71'.

There is about 400 exceptions in timespan of 1 minute.
I have investigated the event logs and found out, that the times of theese possible DOS attacks collide exactly with errors in Event log
APM Agent, 4009 Performance counters corrupted.
APM Agent, 4151 Microsoft Monitoring Agent APM service is inaccessible. Please check that it is not in a disabled state.
There is a file present on the computer, SCOM is running there:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\APMDOTNETAgent\V8.0.10918.0\x64

I have in my environment a scom 2016 configured with sql server 2016 configured in always on mode.
First of all, i faced the following issue DB saying that file free space left MOM_DATA ( SQL Server 2016 DB file).
Therefore, i increased the mom_data size and set it to enable autogrowth.
It worked for a couple of days, then the issue itself returned with another issue too which is the following: " event data collection process unable to write data to the data warehouse. Failed to store data in the data warehouse. The operation will be retried."
And Scom stopped working, the data access service is stopped and cant be started.
Now, i'm facing two different issues related to the 2 databases operation manager and the data warehouse db.
Again, i increased the MOM_DATA size and SCOM is working now, and the issue related to the free file space is now sitting as a warning.
Therefore, i'm guessing that after a couple of days, DATA ACCESS SERVICE will stop again.
Can you please advise on how to fix this once per all.

We are facing an issue to send SCOM alert notification through linux mail server.We have a linux mail server and use authentication mode (SMTP port 587) for
SMTP communication. We have also try to send mail to external email authentication but not succeed. Please have the detail is bellow-

We have also perform the below task
1. Create a Run As Account
2. Create a Run As Profile
3. Create a Channel
4. Create a Subscriber
5. Create a Subscription
We have also used SMTP Relay Tool and notice that server was able to send email to internal as well as external email address but SCOM APPLICATION is not triggeringany email even any alert create in SCOM monitor.
We have followed a Microsoft blog forSending Notifications with External Email Authentication but no luck.
Any thing needed more to get a email from SCOM server?
I set up a SCOM agent on a Windows 2012 Server VM running my custom Windows service coded in .NET and C# 4.5.
I then set up a Windows Service monitoring against that service using the Windows service monitoring template and wizard.
I then started the .NET Application Performance Monitoring template wizard. When it brought me to the screen to select the Windows service, I chose Windows Service in the dropdown and pressed Search.
My windows service did not appear in the results. No windows services appeared.
What did I do wrong???

Hi. We use SCOM 2016 UR2 to monitor our BizTalk 2013 R2 environment (and other servers).
The BizTalk has gotten a problem lately. The ASP .NET execution times are very high because the .NET Profiler is loaded... I don't think anyone has set it to start in the first place...

If i install the agent manuelly using this command:
msiexec /i momagent.msi NOAPM=1
Then the profiler does not load, however it would be nice to monitor the APM on the server...
Does anyone have any idea as to what has happened, and how to fix this?

Our release team have recently deployed a new website on Windows Server 2008 R2 IIS 7.0. This website is using .NET Core 2.0.
If I try and setup .NET Application Performance Monitoring for this website none of the website objects are listed in theWeb Application and Services object search.
I can confirm the website and application pools have been discovered and are listed inMonitoring, Microsoft Windows Internet Information Services,Application Pool State and Web Site State.
Is .NET Core supported with .NET Application Performance Monitoring?
Looking forward to some help as I am stumped at the moment

Wading through all the various content on TechNet it looks like SCOM connectivity to Azure Application Insights has been killed due to "low adoption", and never made it out of beta.https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/app/scom from that link:
But... there was a Microsoft Azure MP just released on 1/08/2019, that includes instructions for monitoring using Application Insights.https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=50013
So I'm really confused by all of this. We need to set up Log Analytics and other Azure Monitoring to feed data into SCOM for audit and compliance purposes in order to be able to use Azure at all. So is there any clarifying blog posts regarding all of this?

We are currently on SCOM 2016 RTM. The issue we face is regarding web site monitoring.
Using the monitoring wizard, I have created a monitor to check the availability of a few company web sites. However, I keep getting false positive alerts that the web site has gone down, when that is not the case.
Any idea where and what to start investigating to fix this?
I created a web availability test using the Web Transaction Monitoring template. I use this one instead of availability because I'm testing sharepoint applications that require authentication.
It successfully shows health and I validated that it was by turning on and off the app, but for some odd reason, when it is properly working it does not show performance data. When I remove the authentication or change the proxy (it'll still get hit the page) and get a 404 error, it shows the performance data interestingly.
Any ideas?

I have checked the items in the product knowledge possible resolutions
* Agent 1807 is installed.
* MSXML fix doesn't apply to server 2016
* Scripthost doesn't apply to server 2016
So deeper investigation is required
* Agent Performance view states when the alert is generated. No Patern is identified.
No recent changes are made.

Is there a road map for the Java APM management pack to offer support for Tomcat 8?
Please don't confuse this request with the fact that the JEE Application Server management pack currently supports Tomcat 8, these are two different products. Another similar post was answered this way.
We currently leverage both products for monitoring our Java middleware environment, have a growing Tomcat 8 presence and would like both JEE app server monitoring and the Java APM monitoring enabled as we currently have with Tomcat 7.
