Hi,

We have installed SCOM 2012 SP1 UR2 and want to test APM. In our environment we have several .Net application servers.

Current Situation:

The APM Service is running on the 2 webservers. IIS has been reset after I received the warning. Checked OpsMgr > APM Agent Details. Application pools are restarted each night. EventID 34218 (finish) and EventID 34228 (start) are logged in All Events View. I have created a server and client-side monitoring. The applications are recognized (I can select them during the wizard). Agent proxy is enabled, IIS 7 & APM management pack are installed.

An override has been created "Additional file extensions for ASP.NET Web Application discovery" = asmx. I have changed the performance event threshold to 500ms.

Per application, a new folder is created in the OpsMgr console with a Performance "All Perform Data" view = remains empty. The "Overall component health" dashboard show the application state = healthy.

The problem:

When I check the performance monitor on the application server, the .NET Statistics & .NET CSM Statistics do not show any instances as shown in the following thread:

How to solve this?

If I restart the SCOM Agent, the following warning is logged:

EventID 10103:

In PerfDataSource, could not resolve counter instance .Net CSM Apps, % of Excpetions/sec, Authorization.WebServiceInterface - Test.module will not be unloaded. One or more workflows were affected by this.

The AppDiagnostics webpage also remains empty. If I click on computers, I can view the application servers with CPU cores, and the web applications. When I click on Applications, nothing is shown here. The Events tab also remains empty. The SCOM Console also doesn't show alerts/warnings about the applications.

.net version 4 installed.

.net apps > monitored requests/sec : no instances are available

First the server-side monitoring needs to be functioning before we can continue with the client-side monitoring, right? How to proceed?

Any help is appriciated.

Hey All,

I'm setting up a new distributed SCOM 2012 R2 environment and implementing quite a bit of role-based access control. To that end, I'm not seeing a lot of documentation that has to do with APM RBAC. I've got users who can only have access to data from certain environments, including APM (App Advisor/AppDiagnostics Consoles included). How can I accomplish this?

Issues with Dynamic Session Parameters in SCOM Web Application Transaction Monitoring

Hello, I am not sure where to post this however its regarding the Web Application Transaction Monitoring functionality in SCOM. Its very esoteric and I can find NO information whatsoever on this issue. I am not a Web Dev SME however I have enough knowledge to work through some site monitoring configurations and make them work. However there are some of our sites that fall outside of my know how, specifically with regards to dynamic parameter extraction, which I believe is at the heart of why these particular transaction tests end up failing. To be clear, I rarely use the build in Web Recorder exclusively. I do basic transaction setup using the Recorder then use Fiddler to capture the requests and insert them manually into SCOM with the requisite post payloads.

Without chirping on SCOM Transaction monitoring too much … let’s face it … its not the best sigh. Without Fiddler you are basically shooting in the dark .. guess that’s obvious. Anyways as an example of a working situation, I set an Extraction “Context Parameter” into the initial “Get” and then in the subsequent login “Post”, I insert the parameter into the post body (sessionID) as you can see below.

Now when the monitor runs, the session ID is dynamically extracted and everything works peachy .. all good. However I have encountered sites in my work which there is obviously something dynamic being passed back and forth (upon login) and there is no specific reference to what it is in the Post payload. Not like the post example above where “sessionId” clearly is present. When I follow the transaction playback in Fiddler of one of these sites, (or record in Fiddler a manual transaction set) I see dynamic session content (such as cookies in the Header) in the explorer. However I don’t understand how to “insert” these dynamic variables into SCOM or if its even possible. I have exhaustively searched online and all I can find are really basic “non real world” examples of extracting BING search Criteria and appending them to the request URL’s …. Sigh there is no translation to my problem at least to the best of my knowledge.

Does anyone out there have any ideas whatsoever!!!! I am really at the end of my rope.

My App Advisor on the new server work fine, but i want to change hyperlink to correct adress. Please Help Me.

Hello,

I have SCOM 2012 R2 UR9 and have a requirement to Monitor couple of .Net IIS7.0 Application.

I have imported the respective MPs, My application got detected. Now when I'm executing the CSM compatiblity task, it's showing Critical but Says No output available.

Can Someone help me get arid of this issue, I'm getting the same error for both the applications. Where else i can get the Error Logs.

for some SQL instances, I've got some monitors telling "not monitored" when they were (like CPU utilisation)

We are in a AlwaysOn configuration. One node showing correct information, the other one has the problem.

Hi All,

We have SCOM 2012 R2 and we have trying out the JEE Aplication monitoring. The JEE servers have been discovered and deep monitoring is enable. The problem is we can't get the APM agent to start. We configure the catalina.bat but the agent is not starting, no errors in catalina logs and the agent logs is not created.

Hi Frenz,

I have SCOM 2012 R2 UR9 environment. I have configured a APM template for couple of application. Monitored status of the application shows Green and reduced all threshold value to Zero, just for testing. But in App diagnostic/ advisor console we are getting only the computer details not the source view, it shows "No element" and event view also nothing listed out.

Dashboard Performance view scale

When creating a performance view for a dashboard on a server, the scale on the horizontal axis is not scaling properly. For the time frame of one year, it looks like it's trying to pull all 365 days. Is there a way I can scale it down to 12 segments, one for each month and have it show the aggregate data between each month?

First I want to say that I tried to put this in the right category. There doesn’t seem to be a category explicitly for OMS.

I Recently started using Microsoft Operations Management Suite (OMS).

The problem started when I installed MMASetup-AMD64.exe. I started getting events that look like what is pasted in below.

I see lots of other folks with this type of problem over the past couple of years. As of yet after doing research I don't see any solid solutions for this. is this only an event that is non critical, or does it affect the reporting to OMS in any way?

Accidentally deleted APM Run As Account

Hey

While deleting some test Run As accounts, I accidentally deleted the APM Run As Account that gets automatically created. Is there a way to restore this account? I was going to try and re-create it, but I never entered any credentials for it.

In my test environment, I installed APM and noticed that the account gets created once you start monitoring an application. The credentials for the account are a Binary Account File type with encrypted binary data.

Any suggestions with how I should proceed?
