SCOM - Set Database In Maintenance Mode

Hi All,

I would like to know if someone know how to set a DB in MM, currently im using below query to do it at server level,

But: i would like to do it at DB level IN SCOM by script


Get-SCOMClassInstance -name "SERVERNAME*" | Start-SCOMMaintenanceMode -EndTime ((Get-Date).AddDays(365)) -Comment "OTHER" -Reason "PlannedOther"

SCOM Set up

Hello,

We are moving to azure cloud Paas and would like to establish APM over our services and VM's. After doing a bit of research I have found SCOM is the best monitoring solution to begin with. I looked lot of KB on the MS site and was able to spin up SCOM on a VM machine which is locally hosted on our on-premise network. 

Here comes the issue,when I'm trying to set up SQL server 2008 on the on premise VM I'm facing a lot of issues. Could someone please let me know the process from scratch to set up SCOM and its dependencies. I know we have lots of set up documents available online however I haven't get a good document  which explains the set up process step by step most of the documents have expired links.

SCOM 2012 Web Console Dashboard Widget

hi , 

i have created a Dashboard in SCOM 2012 to monitor some web site, the widget is working fine under normal local SCOM Console however when i am trying to open the dashboard under Web Console (Local IE)i am getting the following error any help would be much appreciated

I have tried everything to remove this error RPC server unavailable by disabling firewall and all the things mention iby others. But still cannot resolve the RPC server error.Can anyone help me please.

APM Configured but 'Application Monitoring --> Applications' blank

Hi All,

We are running SCOM 2012 R2. I have configured APM and can see monitored .NET applications, as per below.

What I'm struggling with though is that I cannot see the application listed through 'Application Monitoring --> Applications'. As I understand it, there should be applications listed here.


Any ideas guys?

SCOM 2012 SP1 APM Support for SharePoint 2013

Hello everybody,

Just wondering if with the release of SCOM 2012 SP1, APM has also been extended to support SharePoint 2013.

I´m currently trying to implement it but SharePoint 2013 based applications cannot be discovered under Application Monitoring -- .NET Monitoring -- IIS 7.0 ASP.NET Web Application Inventory or IIS 8.0.

Is it officially supported? is there any workaround to get it working or is there any hotfix or rollup that allows this to get properly configured? I thought that probably in the Rollup 1 for System Center 2012 SP1 it could be fixed but I don´t find anything related to this particular topic in the rollup´s description:

Implementing APM with SharePoint 2010 it´s fairly straight forward and very easy to configure, probably I´m missing something here.

Just want to have a quick answer, is Operations Manger 2007 has the capabilities to monitor an application (such if crashed, hung, etc.).

The application may be a homegrown.

SCOM 2012 R2 Java Application Performance Monitoring Preview View

Hi

I installed SCOM 2012 R2 preview, deployed Tomcat 6 on Linux (supported Version), deployed JEE deep Monitoring, Imported Java JAVA APM MP's and deployed the Java APM Agent on Linux. According to the logfile the Java APM Agent is runnig. Now I run the JEE APM Management Pack Template wizard in SCOM 2012 R2. I can pick an application etc.

What I cannot find are any views although there is a view in the MP (but disabled). How das this work with the views?

Hi All,

Any idea with the below error....Environment SCOm 2007 R2 CU7.

"Data Warehouse maintenance mode synchronization process failed to write data to the Data Warehouse database. Failed to store data in the Data Warehouse. The operation will be retried.
Exception 'SqlException': Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding."

Hi i have some question about .net application monitoring, I am new with the SCOM and i will impleented with one of my client :

1. Why not all my application show on component in the picture 1, what the requirement of .net APM?

2. When i configure APM there's no data available (blank), why?

3. How to configure SCOM to have capability of predictable performance and availability of critical application like in the picture 3 ?

Hi 

We have started to monitor user experience for web applications and we have seems to have monitor stop monitoring randomly. Sometime scom start monitoring itself but most of the time we have to go and recalculate health.

We looked at watcher node and we are receiving following errors

Application Diagnostic not showing application source

Hi All,

I have implemented SCOM 2012 agent on the Web server to monitor the .net applications, but when I opened the Application Diagnostic Console there is no data for the source application (not showing), I had to wait two days, restart IIS and restart SCOM but APM still does not appear. Status in healthy state on SCOM 2012 console. but there is no event that appears. In the event viewer there is an error and the following warning, i do not know if is related to my case:

  1. Error getting state of service (Event ID 11771)

    Service: lanmanserver 
    Error: 0x80070005 
    Details: Access is denied.

    One or more workflows were affected by this. 

    Workflow name: Microsoft.Windows.Server.6.2.OperatingSystem.ServerServiceHealth

I have test in my environment and the source is showing, but when i deploy on my customer there's no application showing

Application Source Not in AppAdvisor

Guys,

I have an applicaiton that is discovered and green in the SCOM/APM Console but is not listed as a source in AppAdvisor to select and get data against.

I am desperate for any clues as to how to populate it. It is the same type of .Net application as the others that do get populated.

Source dropdown menu appears empty in Client Monitoring Reports in SCOM APM ApplicationAdvisor

Hello,

After having successfully configured APM Client Side Monitoring for a number of apps, for some odd reason if I want to check the reports available under the "Client Side Monitoring" section in AppAdvisor , this is displayed completely empty as it can be seen in the following screenshot:

In case anyone wonders, the answer is yes, Client Side Monitoring is enabled and reporting successfully in SCOM and in AppDiagnostics. Additionally, let me confirm that I've already overridden the Discovery Rules for IIS and APM and everything but this is working as expected. Could someone please shed some light onto why this may be happening or how could I fix it?

PS: If it helps, the web apps in question reside on D:\AppsFolder rather than in the default location (C:\inetpub\wwwroot)  I figured it may have something to do with it so I added the IIS_USERS Group and the Run As Account user as well with full permissions just for grins but sadly to no avail.
