AppAdvisor error

Hi all!

Recently I turned on APM for .Net applications. AppDiagnostics web console is working fine but when I try to call AppAdvisor tab I get the "An error has occurred". In web console server OM log there were errors like "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." from Application Advisor source. I've found workarounds like change OM AppMonitoring IIS Pool account to "NetworkService" and change AppAdvisor virtual folder auth modes.

Now I still cannot open AppAdvisor but in event log now there are arrors like "The item '/Application Monitoring/.Net Monitoring/Application Advisor Reports' cannot be found". Checked reporting server - there is no such folders there.

All apm management packs were installed over year ago, so reports shoud be deployed already (but I didnt found any report definition in *apm*.xml management packs)

How to make that folders and reports appear in reporting server?

how can I kill mail letter alert from SCOM?

Some times ago one my server have problem: Logical disk transfer (reads and writes) latency  is too high.

Then I disable monitor for this server:

But SCOM send me email with alert today:

How can I disabled this mail from SCOM? I don't want to see in my mailbox letter like this any time :-)

AlwaysON Dashboard

GSM - TLS 1.1/1.2 Support?

This is the closest forum I can find that would deal with the subject of Global Service Monitor (GSM) for SCOM. Hopefully one of you can help....

For PCI compliance we need to disable TLS 1.0 on our web servers. Unfortunately this breaks GSM monitoring of these websites because GSM appears to not be TLS 1.1/1.2 compatible. Does anyone have any idea when TLS 1.1/1.2 will be supported? It's almost 2017... I don't understand why they don't support it at this point.

Howto Monitor an IIS SMTP Queue

Hi,

we do have an 2012R2 Server with enabled IIS SMTP as relay in our environment.

We want to monitor the queue length.

But for that combination i can only find the SMTP Service availability monitor.We have imported the IIS and the Server Packs....

Any hints?

APM not monitoring .NET 4.6.1 applications

Hi,

We're currently uppgrading our applications from .NET 4.6 => 4.6.1 .

After uppgrading our applications exceptions are not monitored by the SCOM 2012 APM agent.

Can't find any information about this problem.

SCOM 2016 automatically enables profiling?

I updated agents on all my machines with SCOM 2016 agent and it seems to automatically enable APM profiling on machines. Registry key created under W3WVC/Environment


COR_PROFILER={AD5651A8-B5C8-46ca-A11B-E82AEC2B8E78}
Cor_Enable_Profiling=1

Please note that APM monitoring was NOT ever enabled in my environment.

I remove the Agent and the Server was very fast. Then I reinstall the Agent and for some time it was quite. Then the Problem start again.

Dashboard Performance view scale

When creating a performance view for a dashboard on a server, the scale on the horizontal axis is not scaling properly. For the time frame of one year, it looks like it's trying to pull all 365 days. Is there a way I can scale it down to 12 segments, one for each month and have it show the aggregate data between each month?

HTTP Error code 401 - Web Application AvailabilityMonitoring

I am trying to monitor a website under Web application availability monitoring and when I run the test it throws 401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.

Now the site is accessible and is configured to be accessible to all domain accounts. We are able to access in browser using any account.

Secondly, even if I ignore error 401 (because its user specific) and SCOM continues to get it, will it be able to monitor and generate alert for error codes above 401? (like 404, 500 etc.)?

Create Dynamic Group from AD using Subnets

Hi Could someone point me in the right direction - i'd like to be in a position where if we stand up a new site AD group then a corresponding SCOM group is setup and dynamically filtered by its subnet 

Eg anything that gets added to AU group SITE A gets populated into a new group SCOM group Site A

What would also be nice to have is if the SCOM group thats populated (SITE A) has an availabilty rollup that only uses the heartbeat monitor.

Web Application Availability Monitoring Test Timeout

Dears,

I have a strange problem that I didn't find any similar issue in the internet,

I want to monitor some internal SharePoint 2010 web sites on the web front ends using SCOM 2012 so I created a new Web Application Availability Monitoring template to monitor the internal URL on the WFE servers but it's not working and when I try to run the test it times out without running on the servers and I didn't find any events that can help.

I also tried to monitor http://www.google.com but the test is also not running..

I'm trying to monitor Whatsup Gold with APM. Whatsup have two applications nmconsole and idrone. I have changed the application Discovery, but I have not been able to get the applications monitored. Have anyone else succeded?

Remove APM related alerts from custom Alert Views

Hi everyone

Our company uses custom Alert views for specific teams to try segregate alerts where possible, we are now trialling APM on one of our test IIS application servers and the APM alerts are now flooding the Views with lots of .NET exception alerts. We are happy APM is working for us, but unfortunately need to filter these alerts away from the Views.

The Alert Views themselves are configured for specific SCOM groups, for example we have a SCOM group for UAT systems which is implemented as a dynamic group filtered for a specific UAT FQDN. I have tried removing the APM alerts by creating a new SCOM group that's again dynamic for APM objects, the group itself works fine but applying the group as an excluded group to the main UAT group isn't working and not filtering the APM alerts.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there a better way to filter out specific alerts (in this example APM) from custom Alert Views?

Standalone Microsoft Monitoring Agent service failed to start

Hi,

I have installed Microsoft Monitoring Agent (Stand alone versionnot System Center Operations Manager version) on windows server2008 R2 but the service is not starting and it generate this error "The Microsoft Monitoring Agent service terminated with service-specific error %%-2130771849."

I have tried to install it on many different servers but the result was the same.

I found this solution  http://www.bictt.com/blogs/bictt.php/2013/12/12/scom-agent-fails-to-start

but it doesn't work for me and the problem still exists. Any other suggestions ?

do you have any solution on switch double byte code to single byte code in SCOM?

incase we have double byte(Japanese) alarm need to be read by SCOM, but as I know SCOM doesn't support Unicode. do you have any resolutions on this part(made it read by SCOM but not become to messy code)? is there any solutions to make the original Japanese be read in a proper encoding in SCOM?
