Hello, I'm in the process of setting up System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2. I plan to start out with the modules needed to push out WSUS updates (WSUS) and also add in the System Center Update Publisher (SCUP) to be able to package/distribute 3rd party updates. Later I need to add in SCOM to replace IP Monitor, which I'm using now to monitor my network/devices. One of my colleagues mentioned Microsoft Operations Manager, looks like it does the same thing as System Center Configuration Manager. Can you answer the following 3 questions please:
1) What are the major differences between Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2 & Microsoft Operations Manager?
2) Do companies typically have both in their enterprise?
3) Benefits/downsides of having both in the enterprise.
Thank you
the SQL MP did not come with a performance counter for Database Pages. I created a new one to query using SQL for a custom dashboard. But found that for servers with multiple instances of SQL, I get the same value for each instance. I tested this again with the builtin Counter SQL DB Engine: Buffer Manager - Page Life Expectancy and found that it gets different readings for each instance. I have enabled include all instances in the performance counter I created - SQLServer:Buffer Manager - Database Pages.
Has anyone had something similar with a custom created PerfMon ?
Hello, I accidentally uninstalled the camera device manager and I do not know how to reinstall will that can help me?

Hello,
I am trying to come up with some real-world examples of four types of system inefficiencies that might benefit from application performance management services. In broad strokes, there are four types of system inefficiencies that I need examples for. Those are:
The first one is simple enough. I might use an example that person is using a simple Paint program when Photoshop would have tools they really need.
Are there any other - or better even - real world examples that would describe to an audience what these types of proplems consist of?
Thanks for your help!
Hi,
we have scom 2012 r2 and exchange server 2013 deployed in our environment. Exchange server has a DAG of 4 members. Is there a way to create a SLA dashboard for DAG monitoring. If 3 nodes out of 4 is down and exchange server is working fine and dashboard is also showing DAG availability positive.
Hello,
I'm trying to figure out why DC availability alert did not resolve on it's own and still showing as "Active Alert" despite Information event was generated that status returned to green.
Hi Guys,
I haven't used my APM deployment for a while until recently we were required to start monitoring with APM and now I keep getting the below error each time I try open App Advisor or App Diagnostics pages.
Is there perhaps a way to repair APM ?
It almost looks like a .net error.
Any assistance would be appreciated
We had a flood of CPU utilization alerts in our environment. Checked that the server was fluctuating between 80-10%. To avoid frequent alerts I have changed the threshold to below where I have totally ignored queue length. Is it correct?

Hi,
We have following problem. We have ASP.NET Web API 4.0 application, APM monitoring is configured for it, and we can catch Web API call performance exceptions in general. However, we cannot configure more precise monitoring by creating Transactions using “Web API Controller” and “Web API Action” data. In SCOM console, we have option to configure only ASP.NET MVC Page, but it does not works. How we can configure Transactions for Web API?
Thank You!

Hi,
I configured tomcat monitoring and the server appears under the universal application servers in the configured application servers. I still can't get the applications in the deep configured monitoring. I verified that BeanSpy is running.
however, when i try to run the "Copy BeanSpy and universal discovery files", i get a message saying "The pool managing the instance is not available or the location monitoring object cannot be found."
here is the additional message.
Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.LocationObjectNotFoundException: The pool managing the instance is not available or the location monitoring object cannot be found.

Any help?

Hi,
I've read a few posts on here regarding the monitoring of Physical RAM for windows 7 / server 2008 etc. but they seem to contradict each other.
I would like to monitor how much physical RAM is in use on a machine and if less than 10% RAM is available then throw a critical alert, otherwise healthy. I'd basically like to monitor what you see in task Manager under thePerformance tab > Physical Memory Usage. (No counter exists for this in perfmon).
So far i have played around with the below monitors but they seem to return incorrect results as they monitor a mix of physical and virtual memory.
"Available Megabytes of Memory"
"Percentage of Committed Memory in use"
I just need to be alerted when the physical RAM has almost reached its limit, any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks
Hi All
We are looking at monitoring user experience for our web applications. We are thinking to use SCOM 2012 r2 based synthetic transaction monitoring and not quite sure what we can do.
To start with we want to be able to be able to do following
1) monitor user logon.
2) monitor the time taken for user to login.
3) errors that could comes after user successfully log on.
We were wondering if you have done similar to this and any learning that you could share with us, also some good resources you have followed or know off.
Will appreciate you help and feed backs.
Thank you
Hi All,
I have a simple general question. Rather business then technical.
I have a client whom I supporting implementing a business software (300+ user).
Now they are keep bugging us for monitoring and that it should be our responsibility that the tool (Java-based) is monitored properly on application base. I keep arguing that this is not the right way. Monitoring is beyond our core competence and others as e.g. dynaTrace, AppDyanmics, OpNET and so on are specialized in this and that it makes more sense to go for a 3rd party tool.
Now instead of spending a few bugs and get over with we have to build complex workarounds with less outcome just to fit their idea of us being responsible.
What would your approach be to this? Is it justified as a tool provider to say APM is not my discipline and I am responsble for functionality? Maybe not exclusively but mainly functionality and of course I make sure it runs properly, but when in production something occurs of which the root cause is not clear shouldn't it be the client elaborating on this?
Thanks.
